Today, I started working on Oral History and transcribing Jerald Cannon's interview. I went to the master document to copy his interview and discovered that the link did not work. After trying a couple of times, I searched for his name in the document, located his interview, made a copy and began listening to the interview. I worked on transcribing the interview for about thirty minutes when Kevin came by and asked if I wanted to continue updating the Irving Archives website that we had started yesterday. I replied that I wanted to continue and put aside the Oral History until a later time during the day.
Kevin and I had started updating the Irving Archives website and had gotten thru the C-D tab. We created a chart showing what accession records needed to be updated. The first thing that we did was check on the City of Irving tab because we had discovered the day before that the information was not there and Kevin had emailed to have it fixed. All of the information was there today so it was put on our chart to update that tab. We went through the handwritten accession log and entered the Donor, Description and Accession number on the table through the website program. There were a couple of times when the website program was acting strange and we had to log out and back in to get it running correctly. I worked on the website until lunch then when I returned I worked on Jerald Cannon's interview until Kevin returned from lunch.
Once Kevin returned, we completed entering all of the accession records on the website. I then asked what the next step was since everything had been entered. Kevin replied that the Manuscript Vertical Files, which are files that are too small to create a collection with but too important not to have in the archives, needed to be uploaded and linked to the corresponding accession record. Kevin went through the handwritten accession log while I linked the various MVFs to their accession record. There was one collection on the website that it's finding aid had been updated therefore we had to update the finding aid on the website as well. The finding aid was 12 pages long and it had to be formatted to be uploaded on the website. Kevin made sure everything looked good before we uploaded and linked it to the existing accession record. Once we had completed linking and updating the website, I returned to transcribing Jerald Cannon's interview.
I finished his interview and started transcribing Marion Cannon's interview which I worked on until the end of the day.
