Today, I updated the rough draft of the finding aid that I am creating for the Las Colinas Women's Association. I had been continuing to add to the finding aid as I completed the combination of boxes within the collection. I had not had time to update the finding aid draft on Tuesday since it took me the entire day to combine the materials and files into Box 3. Once I had updated the draft of the finding aid, I took a break from working on the collection and worked on oral history.
I begin working on Jean Haley Wilson's interview that I had started on June 29 and had finished transcribing the interview. The next interview that I worked on and finished was Essie Jones Keeling's interview. I started and completed Robert M. Nelson's interview which was somewhat difficult to transcribe since the interview was held at a country club in which the background noise made it hard to hear what was said during the interview. Once I had completed transcribing Robert M. Nelson's interview, I began working on Edgar Seay's interview but did not finish transcribing it that day.
Kevin came to check on my progress with the Oral history and reminded me that the Photo Digitization project that was started on June 28 needed to be completed. Kevin and I worked on the Photo Digitization Project until it was finished then we moved to the next project.
The next project that Kevin showed me that the Irving Archives does is mounted pictures. These are pictures that are printed, trimmed, and mounted on foam board. This project is to be added to a current exhibit that is at the Bear Creek Heritage Center. I got to trim the pictures, spray glue on them and mount them on to foam board. Once the pictures were mounted, I trimmed them to the preferred size for the exhibit. I inquired about other exhibits that the Irving Archives created and used mounted pictures. Kevin told me that many of them are in storage and that the Irving Archives used to create mounted pictures but have not created any exhibits with mounted pictures within the last three years. Kevin showed me pictures of various exhibits that he created for various organizations, individuals and other various topics of interests. I found that creating mounted pictures was quite enjoyable however Kevin warned me that it can get quite tedious. After creating the mounted pictures, I returned to transcribing Edgar Seay's interview for the rest of the day.
